About
“Being part of a group of eight people means you are in the wedding — not outside it.”
WHO THIS IS FOR
You’re not twenty-two. You know what you want and you know what you don’t want. You’ve been to enough big weddings to know that a 200-person ballroom reception is somebody’s dream — just not yours.
Maybe this is your first marriage and you always knew you’d do it small. Maybe it’s your second, and this time it’s just going to be the people who actually matter. Maybe you’ve been together fifteen years and you’re finally making it official with your six closest humans on a beach at sunrise.
Whatever brought you here, you chose intimacy on purpose. And you deserve a photographer who understands that.
About Kara
I’ve been photographing weddings for over twenty years. Now I do very limited work for very special people.
Big ones, elaborate ones, weddings with eight photographers and a videography drone and a lighting team. They were wonderful. They’re just not where my heart lives anymore.
I’m not the ninja photographer all in black, lurking at the back of the room. I’m not barking directions or making you hold a pose for five minutes while the light changes.
I’m there the way your best friend with a camera would be there — laughing with you, celebrating with you, maybe dancing with you, and making beautiful images the whole time because that’s what I do.
When the guest list fits around a dinner table, a photographer who stands outside the moment is the wrong photographer.
TAt this scale, you need someone who becomes a part of the day. Someone your guests remember as a person, not as a presence hovering around with a lens.
That means reading the room. Knowing when to step forward and when to disappear. Catching the moment your grandmother waves from the car window and the chaos of four people and a veil in a hotel bathroom. Because those are the images you’ll look at in thirty years. Not the perfectly posed ones. The ones that happened.
THE WORK ITSELF
Bright. Warm. Real. Not dark and moody for its own sake.
I shoot bright, warm, and real. Not heavily stylized images that look like they belong in a fashion magazine but somehow don’t look like you.
I’m interested in the moment your grandmother waves from the car window. The way you look at each other when you think no one’s watching. Your best friend crying in the corner while pretending not to.
Those are the images you’ll look at in thirty years.
I take on a small number of weddings and elopements each year by design. If your date is available and your vision sounds like something I’d love to be a part of, I’d love to hear from you.
